Yaraman has presented papers at academic conferences in the U.S. and in Europe and has been named “Speaker in the Humanities” by the New York State Council for the Humanities for the period 2000-2003. She has recently received a fellowship from the Istanbul Historical Turkish Music Ensemble in support of her current research on the role of music and movement in Suf’i contemplative practices.
