Parking Garage (2006)
The ribbon-cutting for the New Rose Hill Parking Facility took place in September, 2006. The project was initiated in 1998, and is the culmination of efforts by the University in collaboration with city, state and federal government officials. The parking facility was opened for the Fall, 2006 semester and the outer stone work is expected to be completed by the Fall '07 Semester. At the left is a photograph taken in May, 2007 and the artist's rendition of the completed structure.
When completed, the parking facility will serve as a hub for mass transit. Fordham will provide shuttle service to and from the University, the New York Botanical Garden, the Bronx Zoo, the Belmont-Arthur Avenue neighborhood and shopping district, and the Metro North Rail Line for parking facility patrons. The shuttle service will be financed through revenues generated by the parking facility.
