Dear Friends of the Bronx African American History Project:

The Bronx African-American History Project welcomes donations from individuals, businesses, foundations, and public agencies to sustain our efforts to document the  social, political, and cultural history of the more than 500,000 people people of African descent in the Bronx. Because Fordham University supplies us with office space, equipment and secretarial staff, every dollar you contribute goes directly into research and community outreach. With the help of our community donors, we have been able to conduct more than 110 Oral History Interviews, give lectures and community tours, organize a celebration of Bronx Musical traditions that attracted 700 people, launch educational programs in the Bronx public schools, create an interactive website and launch new initatives exploring the history of jazz and Latin music in the Bronx, examining the development of the Bronx's Black churches, and documenting immigration to the Bronx from the Caribbean and West Africa.

But there is much more work to be done!. As our research attracts  new audiences inside the Bronx and out, we need funds to produce pamphlets and instructional videos, organize conferences and concerts, and hire interviewers, archivists, transcribers, and videographers. You tax-deductible contribution, whether $10 or $10,000, will help assure that the history and experiences of people of African descent in the Bronx will never again be neglected..
