Faculty Pay Stub Information









New Pay Faculty Pay Stub:


[A] This section includes your earnings. Earning categories may include the following:

12 Month Faculty Pay is your annual salary divided by 22 pay periods for fiscal year 06. *[1]
10 Month Faculty Pay is your annual salary divided by 22 pay periods for fiscal year 06.       
Regular Biweekly Pay is received when an employee is chosen to work in a different assignment other than their regular assignment.          
Severance Pay is paid to an employee who has been terminated from the University.
Stipend payment is received for special work performed by employee via grant or special assignment.
Retroactive Pay is paid to an employee who did not receive a salary increase in a timely manner.  
Bonus Pay is normally a one time payment.
Overload Pay is for a Faculty member who has taken on an additional teaching assignment.
Adjuncts are paid over six biweekly pay periods for their teaching assignment.

 

[B] Regular schedule of hours for an employee during each bi-weekly pay period.

 

[C] The amount paid for the current pay period is shown in this column.

 

[D] Please note that earnings in the following categories are subject to flat tax rates:

[E] Total current earnings for this pay period.

    

[F] Total year-to-date gross pay on all earnings listed in the Earnings

      Description categories including earnings for the current pay period.

 

[G] Tax and benefits-related deduction categories are listed here.

 

[H] Taxes and deductions for the current pay period are in this column.

 

[I] The total taxes and deductions paid for the calendar year to date are in this column.

 

[J] This column indicates the total taxable wages in the current pay period that were

      subject to each particular tax. Taxable wages are calculated by subtracting pretax 

     benefits deductions from current total gross earnings.

The following pretax deductions are subtracted from Gross Earnings before calculating federal, state, and city withholding taxes:

 MEDICAL-

 Your contribution towards the cost of your medical insurance.

 FLEX DED-

 Your contributions to your flexible medical or dependant care account.

 LIFE RED-

 Your contribution towards the cost of the tax-free portion of your life insurance benefit.

 SALARY DEFERRAL-              

 Salary deduction from Biweekly during the academic year for payment during the summer, which will be paid over four pay periods in the summer.

 PENSION-

 Your voluntary and mandatory pension contributions.
 ETRAC-  Your ETRAC deductions.

            

When calculating your FICA (Social Security) and Medicare tax, only your Medical, ETRAC, Flexible Benefits Plan, Salary Deferral and Life Red deductions are deducted from Gross Earnings. *[4]

 

[K] This column indicates the year-to-date wages that were subject to each particular tax.

 

[L] This section of the pay stub provides information for benefit related deductions other than taxes. They include:

[M] This box contains the total taxes and benefit related deductions for the year-to-date.   To the left is the total for the current pay period.

 

[N] This section of the pay stub contains details related to miscellaneous after-tax deductions. If you have direct deposit, you will see the amount of your direct deposit reflected here. Deductions listed here may include:

                        Savings Bond- If you participate in our voluntary savings bond program.

                        Parking Fee- Amount charged for on-campus parking.

                        Checking- The amount direct deposited to your checking account.

                        Savings- The amount direct deposited to your savings account.

                        United Way- Amount you voluntarily contribute under this program.

                        Garnishments- Any amounts withdrawn under court order.

     

[O] This box contains the total of miscellaneous after-tax deductions for the year-to-date.

       To the left is the total for the current pay period.

 

[P] Employee name.

 

[Q] This section summarizes all of your earnings and deduction information. The earnings line contains the totals reported in the earnings portion of the pay stub (the upper left box). The deductions line combines the total of deductions for taxes and benefits (the upper right box) and miscellaneous deductions (the lower left box).

 

[R] This is the net amount due to you after all deductions are made, other than deductions for direct deposit. If you have direct deposit, the amount here will equal to your checking account dollars. The Saving account amount will not appear in net summary box.

 

[S] The value of the taxable portion of your life insurance benefit is added to your gross income. This adjustment is made monthly and impacts your tax withholdings.

 

[T] This is your employee identification number.

 

[U] This is the current pay date.

 

[V] This is the last date of the current pay period.

 

[W] This box reports employees withholding status (married-M, or single-S) and the number of withholding exemptions claimed. Your federal status is reported first, and your state status is reported second.



[1] The Marymount College Faculty academic year begins in September and ends in August. The Marymount College Faculty annual salary is divided by 26.1 pay periods.  

 

[2] A Stipend is normally taxed at s flat tax rate but in some cases when the employee only has one assigned salary it will be taxed based on their marital status and exemption.

 

[3] [The deductions amount can vary due to the Medical plans and the number of months you are required to work during a fiscal year].

 

[4]: The Parking fee will become a pretax deduction as of September 2005, and will then be included with the above categories.
