NEW YORK-Fordham University's Regional Educational Technology Center (RETC) has grown with such depth and breadth over the past two years that staffing has increased from four to 28 educators, researchers, administrators and technology specialists. To keep up with demand and provide a base to better serve its constituency, the RETC has opened an additional site off-campus, which they plan to open to the community during their “Expansion Celebration and Tour” on Friday, Sept. 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the third floor at 557 E. Fordham Road, Bronx, N.Y.

"RETC 557" provides two and a half floors of office and training space. Located immediately outside the Bathgate Avenue entrance of Fordham's Rose Hill campus, the RETC is accessible to the Bronx community and the Fordham Road Business Improvement District in the geographic center of the Bronx.

DATE:         FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30
TIME:         10:30 A.M. TO  12:30 P.M.
PLACE:      3rd-FLOOR
                   557 E. FORDHAM ROAD, BRONX, N.Y.

RETC 557 houses the administrative offices of the RETC as well as three large plenary spaces for professional development and conferences. As RETC Director Kathleen King, Ed.D., and her staff designed the layout of the additional site, they planned for flexibility in instruction, research, administration, technology and support needs. These training spaces are equipped with wireless Internet access, mobile laptop computer labs, digital projectors, a library of resources for adult education and instructional technology and other essential training materials. RETC 557 also houses the Adult Learning Resource Area, RETC Outreach Area, RETC Robotics Learning Space and a Computer Training and Testing Area.

The Regional Educational Technology Center (RETC), a department within the Office of Academic Affairs and associated with the Graduate School of Education (GSE) at Fordham University, is dedicated to serving and researching the professional development needs of educators striving to improve student and teacher performance. Initially funded by a $9 million grant from New York state's Higher Education Applied Technology Legislation and building on the University's distinguished history of academic excellence and community service, the center has reached more than 5,500 teachers nationwide. Its award-winning programs serve educators across grade levels and contexts, providing in-class and distance learning opportunities. For more information about the RETC, please visit
