New York, NY-- Noncommercial public radio station WFUV (90.7 FM, wfuv.org) today announced that the Federal Communications Commission has officially renewed its FM broadcast license. The renewal enables WFUV to immediately begin broadcasting at full power (50,000 watts of effective radiated power) from the station's new transmitter site on top of Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx.

"The FCC license renewal brings a happy conclusion to the thirteen year impasse between the station and the New York Botanical Garden," said WFUV General Manager Ralph Jennings. The station has already begun dismantling the former half- built tower on the Fordham University campus.

WFUV (90.7 FM, wfuv.org) is a non-commercial, listener-supported public radio station, licensed to Fordham University for more than 50 years. Weekly serving approximately 280,000 listeners in the New York area and thousands more worldwide on the web, and a leader in contemporary music radio, WFUV offers an eclectic mix of rock, singer-songwriters, blues, world and other music with its influential City Folk® format, plus headlines from National Public Radio, local news and sports and Metro Traffic.
