Lerzan Aksoy, Ph.D., BUS,
associate professor of marketing, published “The High Price of Satisfaction” in the MIT Sloan Management Review.

Fran Blumberg, Ph.D., GSE,
associate professor of counseling psychology, edited Learning by Playing: Video Gaming in Education (Oxford University Press, 2014).

Gloria Durka, Ph.D., GRE,
professor and director of the Ph.D. Program in Religious Education, published “Inter-religious Education and Conversion in a Divided World: Perspectives from the United States” in Journal of Religious and Philosophical Articles.

Mary Ann Forgey, Ph.D., GSS,
associate professor of social work, presented “Can Social Work Practice Be Taught Effectively Online: A Comparison of the Learning Outcomes in an Online and Face-to-Face Practice Course” at the International Technology Education and Development (INTED) Conference in Valencia, Spain on March 11. She also published “Increasing Military Social Work Knowledge: An Evaluation of Learning Outcomes” in the Journal of Health and Social Work and “An Exploration of the Knowledge Base Used by Irish and U.S. Child Protection Social Workers in the Assessment of Intimate Partner Violence” in the Journal of Evidence-Based Social Work.

Christina Greer, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of political science, participated in a panel discussion, “Covering the New African Diaspora,” at New York University on March 25. She was also honored by the Young Manhattan Democrats at its Engendering Progress event on March 26.

John P. McCarthy, Ph.D., A&S,
professor emeritus of history, was honored for his work as a historian at a symposium hosted by the School of History of University College Cork, Ireland, at which he spoke on March 1 about the church in contemporary Ireland.

Brenna Moore, Th.D., A&S,
assistant professor of theology, presented comments at the “Modern Theologies/Theological Modernities” panel at the Theorizing Religion in Modern Europe Conference at Harvard University on March 8.

Aida A. Nevárez-La Torre, Ed.D., GSE,
associate professor of education and coordinator of the TESOL and Bilingual Education programs, has won the New York State Association for Bilingual Education 2014 Gladys Correa Memorial Award.

Aristotle Papanikolaou, Ph.D., A&S,
Archbishop Demetrios Chair of Theology and Culture and co-founding director of the Orthodox Christian Studies Center, presented his paper, “Lessons from Russia: Theological Literacy in Theorizing Religion and Democracy,” at the Theorizing Religion in Modern Europe Conference at Harvard University on March 8.

Robert J. Parmach, Ph.D., A&S,
Freshman Dean of Fordham College at Rose Hill and instructor of philosophy and theology, delivered a talk, “Catholic Identity in Daily Teaching: Ignatian Perspectives,” to the faculty of Our Lady of Fatima School in Queens on March 14.

Michael Peppard, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of theology, published “Brother Against Brother: Controversiae About Inheritance Disputes and 1 Corinthians 6:1-11” in the Journal of Biblical Literature.

Diane Rodriguez, Ph.D., GSE,
associate professor of curriculum and teaching, published Keeping the Bilingual Advantage: Promoting English Learners’ Academic Development and Biliteracy Through Native Language Instruction (Teachers College Press, 2014).

Grace Shen, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of history, has published Unearthing the Nation: Modern Geology and National Identity in Republican China, 1911-1949 (University of Chicago Press, 2013).

Lance Strate, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of communication and media studies, has published Amazing Ourselves to Death: Neil Postman’s Brave New World Revisited: A Critical Introduction to Media and Communication Theory (Peter Lang International Academic Publishers, 2014).
