Babette Babich, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of philosophy, has published a book, “Eines Gottes Gluck, voller Macht und Liebe”: Beiträge zu Nietzsche, Heidegger, Hölderlin (Weimar: Bauhaus-Universitäts-Verlag, 2009).

Elisabeth Frost, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of English and director of Poets out Loud, has published RUMOR, a chapbook from Mermaid Tenement Press that was edited and published by Laura Hinton. 

Amir H. Idris, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of African studies, participated in a panel discussion held at Columbia University, titled, “A Conversation Around the Book, Saviors and Survivors: Darfur, Politics, and the War on Terror, written by Mahmood Mamdani.”

Kenneth Lau, LCSW, GSS,
program director of the Westchester campus-based Children FIRST, was recently the recipient of the Rohmer Award at Westchester Jewish Community Services, which recognizes “outstanding professional accomplishments” in 2008.

Sara Lehman, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of Spanish, presented a paper, “Jungian Archetypes and ‘Merchant Stigma’ in Colonial Spanish American Literature,” on Feb. 28 at the conference of the Northeast Modern Language Association in Boston, where she also chaired the panel “Commerce in Colonial Literatures: Avarice or Opportunity?”

Robert J. Penella, Ph.D., A&S,
chairman and professor of classics, has published “Himerius’ Orations to His Students” in T. Corey Brennan and H. I. Flower, East and West: Papers in Ancient History Presented to Glen W. Bowersock (2009). He also recently presented a paper, titled “Emperor Julian’s Gallic Commentary,” at a meeting of the Classical Association of New England in Boston.

Francis Petit, Ed.D., BUS,
assistant dean and director of executive programs for the Graduate School of Business Administration, recently published “An Exploratory Analysis of the Impact of Price on the Search and Selection Process for Executive MBA Programs” in the Journal of Executive Education.

Joan Roberts, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of chemistry and department chair of natural science, gave a lecture, “Effects of Lighting on Human Physiology,” on April 7 at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga.

Asif Siddiqi, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of history, has published “National Aspirations on a Global Stage: Fifty Years of Spaceflight,” in Remembering the Space Age, ed. Steven J. Dick (NASA History Division, 2009).

Margaret O’Brien Steinfels, ADM,
co-director of the Center for Religion and Culture, was among several speakers who addressed “Torture, Conscience and the Catholic Moral Tradition” in a daylong program on March 19 at Catholic University in Washington.

Lance Strate, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of communication and media studies and associate chair for graduate studies, was elected to the board of directors of the New York Society for General Semantics on March 26. He also gave a lecture, “General Semantics and its Application to Communication Teaching and Scholarship,” at the 13th Annual New Jersey Communication Association Conference on March 28 at Kean University in Union, N.J.
