University Honors Ukrainian
Catholic Church Leaders
Fordham conferred an honorary degree upon the new head and father of the Ukrainian Catholic Church and honored his predecessor on Nov. 20 at the Rose Hill campus.
His Beatitude Major Archbishop Sviatoslav Shevchuk, the new 41-year-old patriarch of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, received a doctorate of humane letters, honoris causa, at a ceremony.

Fordham has hosted the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) since its inceptionin 1969. There are currently 529 HEOP students at Fordham, and the University’s allocation from New York state for 2010-2011 is $937,572. In 2010, the six-year graduation rate for HEOP students at Fordham was 68.9 percent, compared to 48.4 percent for HEOP students statewide.
