Jazz at Rose Hill

Jazz legend Marian McPartland, 86, dazzled a standing-room-only crowd in Duane Library by playing requests and sharing anecdotes about her musical friends, including Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington. Before her hour-long set, the longtime host of Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz received the Sapientia et Doctrina medal from Joseph M. McShane, S.J., president of Fordham University, for her commitment to music education.”

Joseph M. McShane, S.J., president of Fordham University, has launched a $50,000 fundraising campaign to benefit victims of the December tsunami. He’s promised $25,000 from the President’s Discretionary Fund and is encouraging students and staff to match that amount by March 1.
