With Fordham softball celebrating its 25th anniversary, the current crop of Rams is looking for ways to bring attention to the program, which has been one of the University’s most successful over the past seven years.

Freshman pitcher Jen Mineau has done more than her share, receiving national recognition as Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week.

Mineau earned the honor by doing something that only one other Fordham softball player has done over the past 25 years: throw a no-hitter. For good measure, she did it twice in one week, with one of the no-hitters also being a perfect game.

Over a two-week stretch in March, Mineau was 4-1 with four saves, having a hand in eight of Fordham’s 10 wins over that period. Her two no-hitters included the perfect game against St. Peter’s on March 10. In that game, a 9-0 Fordham win in five innings, Mineau was dominant, striking out the side in the first, third and fifth innings, and getting Ariana Payan to strike out looking for the final out of the game.

In her other no-hitter, Mineau blanked Delaware, 10-0 in five innings on March 15, allowing just two baserunners in the game, striking out two and walking one.

For the week, Mineau threw 35.2 innings, allowing 15 hits and five runs, three earned, walking three and fanning 32. Her two other wins were a complete-game, three-hitter, in a 2-1 win over Hofstra at the Under Armor Invitational in Clearwater, Fla. on March 7, and a complete-game, six-hitter, in a 6-2 win at Maryland.
