Ethics of Sustainability Debated at Forum
The deep moral and ethical implications of climate change for the Earth’s population was the focus of an all-day conference on April 20 at Fordham.
Speaking at “Moral Heat: Ethical Dimensions of Environmental Regulation and Economics in the 21st Century,” scholars, business leaders and federal regulators acknowledged the seriousness of climate change. They offered ethical solutions, key among which were regulatory increases by the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Law School Receives $5.5 Million
Estate Gift for Scholarships
Paul R. Brenner (FCRH ’64, LAW ’67) capped years of generosity to the Fordham School of Law with an estate gift totaling $5.5 million.
Brenner’s gift, which will support scholarships, brings the school’s fundraising campaign to more than $98 million of its $100 million goal.

Author Promotes Ignatian Spirituality as
Antidote for Wall Street’s Ills
For the American economy to function well, it needs people who possess a sense of purpose greater than themselves and the courage to do what is needed, a noted author said on April 16 at Fordham.
“America needs people who can distinguish ends from means, make great choices and reflect daily on what is happening,” said Chris Lowney (FCRH ’81, GSAS ’81), a former managing director at J. P. Morgan and author of Heroic Living: Discover Your Purpose and Change the World (Loyola Press, 2009).

University Promotes Education for Refugee Children at Book Launch
Education is just as important as medicine and bandages to ensure the well-being of children who have been ravaged by global conflict, according to Meryl Streep.
The Academy Award-winning actress addressed the topic at a book launch and panel discussion on April 21 at the United Nations.

After a Decade,
Study Abroad Office
Marks its Progress
What a difference a decade makes.
When Fordham created its Office of International and Study Aboard Programs (ISAP) at the turn of the 21st century, there were roughly 100 students studying abroad. In the 2009-2010 academic year, 765 students went abroad, including 578 undergraduates. They studied in 79 cities in 41 countries on five continents
