Honorary Degrees
From Fordham
Fordham will present honorary degrees to leaders in journalism, philanthropy, government service, conservation and the arts during its 2011 commencement exercises.
Brian Williams, award-winning anchor of NBC Nightly News and 2011 commencement speaker, will receive a doctorate of humane letters, honoris causa, at the 166th commencement on Saturday, May 21, at the Rose Hill campus.

Excel in Science Prizes
Despite the ongoing recession and its effect on scholarship foundations, Fordham undergraduates, graduate students and alumni have once again excelled in their yearly effort to win prestigious scholarly prizes and awards.
As of May 17, 125 undergraduate and graduate students have won 143 national and international award competitions.

Alumnus Helps Track Osama bin Laden
On Sunday afternoon, May 1, John Brennan, FCRH ’77, waited anxiously with President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other national security advisers in the White House situation room, while American commandos stormed a fortified compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, the likely hideout of Osama bin Laden.
