Amelio D’Onofrio, Ph.D., GSE,
professor and director of Psychological Services Institute, presented “Developing a Trauma-Informed Counseling Approach” at the Westchester County Guidance Expo on Oct. 21.

James T. Fisher, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of theology, received the Distinguished Achievement Award for Scholarship from the American Catholic Historical Association.

Mary Ann Forgey, Ph.D., GSS,
associate professor of social work, published “Utilizing Video Conferencing to Introduce an International Perspective to Foundation Practice” in the Journal of Teaching in Social Work - Special Issue: Distance Learning and Online Education in Social Work.

Marshall A. George, Ed.D., GSE,
professor and chair of the Division of Curriculum & Teaching, and Rhonda Bondie, Ph.D., GSE, clinical associate professor of childhood special education, participated in a workshop, “With Literacy and Justice For All: Fostering Literacy Development in the ELA Classroom,” at the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Annual Convention in Boston on Nov. 25.

David S. Glenwick, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of psychology, published “The Relationship of Religious and General Coping to Psychological Adjustment and Distress in Urban Adolescents” in the Journal of Religion & Heath.

Janna C. Heyman, Ph.D., GSS,
professor of social work, was inducted as a NY Academy of Medicine Fellow at the Annual Meeting of the Voting Fellows on Nov. 7.

Karina Hogan, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of theology, contributed the introduction and commentary on 4 Ezra to Outside the Bible: Ancient Jewish Writings Related to Scripture (Jewish Publication Society and University of Nebraska Press, 2013).

Linda Horisk, ADM,
assistant dean of admissions and enrollment, acted as a session facilitator of a meeting on leadership in graduate enrollment management at the 2013 NAGAP conference. 

J. Patrick Hornbeck, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of theology, published “Love and Marriage in the Norwich Heresy Trials, 1428-1431,” in Viator.

Lawrence Kramer, Ph.D., A&S,
Distinguished Professor of English, premiered two string quartets, “Whirligig and After” and “Dark-Matter—Late Light,” at the PUBLIQuartet on Nov. 14. Also, his quartet movement, “Clouds. Wind. Stars.,” won the 2013 Composers Concordance “Generations” award in its category.

Joseph T. Lienhard, S.J., A&S,
professor of theology, published “From Gwatkin Onwards: A Guide Through a Century and a Quarter of Studies on Arianism” in Augustinian Studies.

Gioconda Marún, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of Spanish, published Latinoamérica y la Literatura Mundial (Editorial Dunken, 2013). She presented “La Memoria Histórica en El Caso Neruda Frente al Resto de la Narrativa Detectivesca de Roberto Ampuero” at CEISAL International Congress in Porto, Lisbon from June 12 to 15.

Brenna Moore, Th.D., A&S,
assistant professor of theology, published “Beyond the Protestant-Catholic Divide” in The Immanent Frame.

Molly Ness Hill, Ph.D., GSE,
associate professor of Childhood Education, published “Understanding the Text Genre Preferences of Third-Grade Readers” in the Journal of Language & Literacy Education.

Jennie Park-Taylor, Ph.D., GSE,
associate professor of counseling psychology, published “Sacred Adolescence: Practical Suggestions for Psychologists Working with Adolescents’ Religious and Spiritual Identity” in the Spirituality in Clinical Practice.

Robert J. Penella, Ph.D., A&S,
chairman and professor of Classics, delivered a lecture, “Ancient Declamation: What Was It, and How Might We Approach It?,” at the University of Iowa. He also presented “Silent Orators: On Withholding Eloquence in the Late Roman Empire” there.

Joseph Ponterotto, Ph.D., GSE,
professor of counseling, published “Bobby Fischer in Socio-Cultural Perspective: Application of Hiller’s (2011) Multi-Layered Chronological Chart Methodology” in The Qualitative Report and “Case Study in Psychobiographical Ethics: Bobby Fischer, World Chess Champion” in the Journal of Empirical Research on Human Research Ethics.

Kathryn Reklis, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of theology, published a reflection in Faith and Leadership.

Harold Takooshian, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of psychology, delivered an address, “The Social Psychology of City Life,” at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow on Oct. 7.

Jay C. Wade, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of psychology, was elected a Fellow of the Division of Men and Masculinity of the American Psychological Association.

Larry L. Welborn, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of New Testament and Early Christian Literature, published “The Corinthian Correspondence” in All Things to All Cultures (Eerdmans, 2013) and “The Culture of Crucifixion and the Resurrection of the Dispossessed: The Interpellation of the Subject in the Roman Empire and Paul’s Gospel as ‘Truth Event’” in Paul and the Philosophers (Fordham University Press, 2013).

Frederick J. Wertz, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of psychology, was elected a Fellow of the Division of General Psychology of the American Psychological Association.
