Denzel Washington Endows Fordham Theatre Chair, Scholarship
Phylicia Rashad Named First Denzel Washington Chair in Theatre
Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington, FCLC ’77, has made a $2 million gift to endow the Denzel Washington Chair in Theatre and a $250,000 gift to establish the Denzel Washington Endowed Scholarship for an undergraduate student studying theatre at Fordham.
Tony Award-winning actress Phylicia Rashad, best known to TV audiences for her role as Clair Huxtable on the classic sitcom The Cosby Show, has joined the Fordham faculty as the University’s first Denzel Washington Chair in Theatre.

Philippine President Receives Honorary Doctorate
Benigno Aquino III, the 15th president of the Philippines, was feted for his devotion to good governance and anti-corruption measures in an honorary degree ceremony on Sept. 19 at the Rose Hill campus.
In his opening remarks, Joseph M. McShane, S.J., president of Fordham, noted the deep ties between Jesuits and the Philippines.
