professor of sociology, wrote a chapter in Breastfeeding in the Age of Anxiety (Springer, 2011), titled “Infant Feeding Beliefs and Practices: Cross Cultural Perspectives.”

Ipsita Banerjee, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of chemistry, recently edited Biosensor Nanomaterials (Germany: Wiley-VCH, 2011).

David V. Budescu, Ph.D., A&S,
the Anne Anastasi Professor of Psychometrics and Quantitative Psychology, co-authored “The Appeal of Vague Financial Forecasts” in Organizational Behavior and Human Performance.

Elaine Crane, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of history, received an editorship from the McNeil Center for Early American Studies at University of Pennsylvania titled “Editorship of Early American Studies.”

Matthew Gelbart, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of music, received an American Philosophical Society Sabbatical Fellowship titled “Listening to Novelty: Musical Genre and Romantic Ideologies.”

Amir H. Idris, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of African studies and associate chair, presented a paper titled “The Future of Two Sudans,” on Sept. 3 at the Iowa Forum Conference for Democratic Transformation in Sudan held at Kean University in New Jersey.

James D. Lewis, Ph.D., A&S,
professor and department chair of biological sciences, co-authored “Impact of Variable [CO2] and Temperature on Water Transport Structure-Function Relationships in Eucalyptus” in Tree Physiology.

Carlos R. McCray, Ed.D., GSE,
associate professor of education, recently published Cultural Collision and Collusion: Reflections on Hip-Hop Culture, Values and Schools (Peter Lang, 2011).

Ohad Nachtomy, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of philosophy, published Leibniz’s Modal Philosophy (Continuum Press, 2011).

Harry A. Newman, Ph.D., BUS,
associate professor of accounting and taxation, co-authored “Tests for Relative Performance Evaluation Based on Assumptions Derived from Proxy Statement Disclosures” in Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting.

Manoj P. Pardasani, Ph.D., GSS,
associate professor of social service, recently completed a 10-day on-site data collection visit in Tanzania, Africa, as part of an evaluation of a program serving children and adolescents who have been orphaned by AIDS.

Travis L. Russ, Ph.D., BUS,
assistant professor of communication, published “An Exploratory Study of an Experiential Change Program’s Impact on Participants’ Affective Outcomes” in Leadership & Organization Development Journal and “Theory X/Y Assumptions as Predictors of Managers’ Propensity for Participative Decision Making” in Management Decision.”

Patrick J. Ryan, S.J., A&S,
the Laurence J. McGinley Professor of Religion and Society, spoke at a 9/11 memorial service on Sept. 11 at the Kabbalah Center in New York City.

Matthew Weinshenker, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of sociology, served as the discussant on a panel titled “Sociology of Reproduction II: Profit, Policy and Reproduction” on Aug. 23 at the annual meeting of the American Sociological Association in Las Vegas.
