Confirmare Executive Summary
Fordham University's Strategic Plan, “Toward 2016” (USP), articulates an understanding of the university's mission, history, current state and presents a vision for its future. The USP initiatives are focused on:
• the quality of undergraduate life and learning,
• the prominence of the professional schools,
• wide ranging communications and community building,
• an active projection of mission and identity and
• the development of resources including people, places, infrastructure and finances.
Fordham IT (Information Technology) has developed initiatives in conjunction with the University Strategic Plan as outlined below:
The Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) initiative and supporting projects – known collectively as Project Confirmare will provide the University with a fully integrated, enterprise wide information system. It will enable the Fordham community to easily process, report and store information that they are authorized to access or use. Project Confirmare will provide a single source of information and functionality for the full student life cycle from inquiry and admissions through alumni relations and giving, and support most University financial, operational, and human resource requirements.
The University has decided to use vendor provided software in support of this initiative and selected SunGard Higher Education Solutions as the primary provider. The SunGard solutions suite provides software, recommended industry ‘best practice’ business processing solutions and a framework for technology infrastructure transformation.
The primary objective of Project Confirmare is to implement a fully integrated and efficient information system for the University that will enable easier access to information, improve the accuracy of information and facilitate management reporting.
The scope of the project includes the Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) and University Resources Initiatives:
A. ERP Business Applications (BANNER / Enterprise Resource Planning)
- Advancement
- Faculty/Student
- Financial Aid
- Student and Faculty Self Service
- Finance
- Human Resources

B. University Data Management (Oracle)
C. Business Intelligence (including executive dashboards, ad hoc reporting, etc.)
D. University Portal (Luminis)
E. Customer Relationship Management (e.g., Recruitment Plus, Hobson’s)
In support of these initiatives, Fordham is implementing a new underlying technology infrastructure, which will include identity management, security, privacy and risk management solutions. In addition, data conversion and migration from the University’s legacy platform will be implemented.
