Dear Colleagues,

Fordham University is in the process of deploying some standard utility software, Active Directory (AD), to each and every university computer. This utility will make it possible for Fordham IT to raise its service level to you.

Its many benefits include: 

  • Improved security for PC's and Mac's;
  • Faster and easier delivery and upgrade of software; and
  • Regular nightly backup of documents and data stored on these computers
These benefits significantly increase the security of our data and assets.

This critical infrastructure component is not optional.

All university purchased equipment must be part of the AD implementation in order to meet other University strategic goals.

Staff from Fordham IT User Support has been reaching out to offices, departments, and individuals  and will continue over the coming months to schedule the migration of your current PC/Mac into AD.  This process will take from 30 to 60 minutes depending on the complexity and number of files on the machine.  During this process, your privacy and data are protected.

All PC's and Mac's scheduled for lease replacement will be brought into AD as part of the normal replacement process.
