What is the difference between POP, IMAP and Forwarding?
POP > Post Office Protocol POP-ing your account downloads mail to the third-party client or account which you desire. Often, when a message is downloaded, it is deleted from the Gmail server. This prevents you from reading the same messages when you go to a different computer. Some mail clients let you tell POP servers to leave mail on the server for a certain period of time. This allows you to read the same messages again from another computer, if necessary. Google provides the steps for POP synching with several third party mail clients. If you intend to use a laptop computer while traveling, or access your mail from several computers, you may want to consider IMAP access.
IMAP > Internet Message Access Protocol It is better than POP for accessing mail from multiple locations because it leaves the mail messages on the Gmail server. This lets you read the same messages regardless of what computer you use to read your e-mail. Messages you send are also stored on the mail server, so regardless of which computer you send a message from, it will be stored in your account for access later. Google provides the steps for IMAP synching with several third party mail clients.
Mail Forwarding > Automatic Mail forwarding is available for students who want to forward their email to another account. Mail forwarding simply pushes your incoming Fordham Gmail messages to another personal email account so that they can be easily accessed alongside your personal emails. The main drawback is that Mail Forwarding does not allow you to reply to forwarded Fordham Gmail messages with your @fordham.edu address.

Corporate Accounts
What is a University Corporate account?
Corporate email accounts are non-person entity accounts associated with an academic or administrative office rather than an individual, e.g. sts@fordham.edu
Corporate Accounts require a sponsor or owner, which is typically the department head or the person who requested the account. Corporate accounts are usually shared by multiple users and serve as a primary point of contact for support and external communications.
A Corporate Account provides access to Email, Calendar, Contacts, Drive and Chat and has the same 25GB mailbox limit as an individual Gmail account.
However, Corporate Accounts require an annual renewal, whereby the sponsor/owner must file an Electronic Access Form (EAF) with HRIS to maintain the account. Account owners will be notified by HRIS when the account expiration date is nearing with information on how to reinstate the account. Failure to file an EAF before the expiration date will render the account disabled and inaccessible.
How to request a Corporate Account?
To request a Corporate email account, you must submit a Corporate Email Account Request form: http://my.fordham.edu/CorporaRequestForm/ The information you provide will be used to create and configure your Corporate email account. Once your application has been approved, you will be contacted by IT Customer Care to inform you about the account creation and how to access your account.

These exceptions include requests by users that Google's support staff access their email messages in order to diagnose problems; when Google is required by law to do so; and when we are compelled to disclose personal information because we reasonably believe it's necessary in order to protect the rights, property or safety of Google, its users and the public.
How does Gmail handle spam?
Gmail's spam filters also work in your IMAP1 client by automatically diverting messages that are suspected of being unwanted messages into '[Gmail]/Spam' and keeping them out of your inbox. If you find a message that should be marked as spam, just move it to '[Gmail]/Spam.' This is just like clicking 'Report Spam' in the Gmail web interface and helps us to improve our spam filters. If you find a message wrongly classifiedas spam, you can move the message out of '[Gmail]/Spam' to the appropriate folder in your client.
What is the best way to avoid email viruses?
