Microsoft has released a security advisory for a vulnerability in Internet Explorer (IE) versions 6 through 8. (Version 9 and 10 are not affected.)
Just visiting a compromised website with a vulnerable version of IE can allow attackers to access your computer and install software. The software that infects computers through this vulnerability collects your personal information, including user names and passwords for various sites, including bank and email accounts. There are reports that the vulnerability is being used to infect machines with Trojan-Horse malware and take remote control of your computer.
In response, on January 14, 2013, Microsoft released an update to address these reported vulnerabilities. Without applying the update, systems remain vulnerable when tricked into browsing to a malicious website. Microsoft recommends that customers apply the update followed by a reboot of your computer immediately.
Most users have Automatic Updates enabled and will not need to take any action because this security update will be downloaded and installed automatically.
Users who have disabled automatic updating must check for updates and install this update manually by activating the Windows update application (Start - All Programs - Windows Update).
The University Information Security Office advises applying the update as soon as possible on all personal and non-university owned machines.

|Fordham IT will be enhancing the security ofthe wireless networks at the Rose Hill, Lincoln Center, and Westchester campuses. In order to do so we will be adding Service Set IDentifiers (SSIDs) to the current list of wireless networks. These networks will use the WiFi Protected Access II (WPA2) protocol and they require a key (password)to encrypt your wireless network traffic.
To access the secure wireless networks, simply select one of thefollowing available wireless networks and enter the WPA2 Key when prompted for a password:
The following links contain more information on how to connect to and configure your wireless access:
Please note the existing unsecured wireless networks, FORDHAMRH, FORDHAMLC and FORDHAM400 will remain active and available, however, they are discouraged from being used and will ultimately be phased out. Additional wireless security enhancements which will integrate with your AccessIT ID, will be added in the coming months.
If you are unable to connect to a WPA2 network, make sure you update all network drivers to the latest versions. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the University Help Desk at 718-817-3999 or via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org
