Welcome To The Family!

Fordham IT is pleased to announce some new additions to our family since the last quarter of 2013. Here is a little background about this accomplished group of diverse professionals.



Calvin Byer

Calvin Byer has assumed the position of Assistant Director of Technology Training and Development. In this role, he will develop and manage IT training programs offered to the University community, as well as provide support to IT Customer Care. In addition, Calvin will work with third-party training vendors, including managing the training courses provided by them. Some of the specific trainings Calvin will oversee include MS Office and Google Apps, and he'll administer the online Learning and Development platform, Microsoft IT Academy. He reports to Deirdre Dillon.

Previously, Calvin served as a Senior Systems Engineer in Fordham's Production Services department for over 6 years, providing expertise in Active Directory, firewall and DNS administration. He initially came to Fordham after 5 years of working as a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator at MortgageIT, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank. He completed his undergraduate coursework at New York University, with a major in Political Science and Classical Language (Ancient Greek). In 2012, Calvin earned his master's degree at Fordham, majoring in Elections & Campaign Management. Working here at Fordham is a coming home of sorts for him, as he is also a Fordham Preparatory School graduate (Class of 1996).


Elizabeth Cornell

Elizabeth Cornell is our new IT Communications Specialist.  Her primary responsibilities lie in helping us use various communications channels to inform the Fordham community about the business-enabling technologies you all work so hard to bring to bear.  We are looking forward to developing a cohesive social media presence, streamlining our website content, and creating regular communication streams for our most important projects.  She will be working directly with many of you, DAUR, and others engaged in marketing and communications here at Fordham.
Elizabeth comes to us highly recommended.  She most recently worked in Fordham's English Department, where she sought to incorporate innovative uses of technology into her research, as well in the literature and composition classes that she taught.  At Fordham, she helped establish and direct the Graduate Student Digital Humanities Group, which gave students the opportunity to explore the methods and practices of using technology in traditional humanities research.  Elizabeth is a collaborator on several digital humanities projects, including Digital Yoknapatawpha, a digital map and timeline of the writings of William Faulkner; it is based at the University of Virginia’s Digital Media Lab and funded in part by the NEH.  She also provides editorial assistance to the hybrid book project, Keywords for American Cultural Studies, co-edited by Fordham professor Glenn Hendler and published by NYU Press.  Her diverse writing and editing background includes work at Fordham University, Bard College, the American Museum of Natural History, and elsewhere.  In the spring of 2013, she received a PhD in English from Fordham.



Muhammad Farhan

Muhammad Farhan is a full-time consultant working with us in the Business Intelligence group.  He has been working in the IT field and specifically with business intelligence since graduating from New York City College of Technology.  While an undergraduate, Muhammad studied computer information systems with a concentration in database systems and graduated magna cum laude.  Prior to coming to Fordham, Muhammad worked with the global financial firm Lehman Brothers Holdings, HHC (Health and Hospital Corporation), as well as with one of the nation’s oldest and leading healthcare insurance providers, Aetna.  This enabled him to apply his knowledge within different sectors including hospitals and health insurance.  With his dedicated educational foundation, work experience with database systems (such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server) and using different reporting tools, he has gained a multitude of experiences and built a strong background in his field.





  Teddy Francois

We are also pleased to announce the addition of Mr. Teddy Francois a full-time consultant to the Messaging and Collaboration Team of the Computer Services group.  Teddy comes to Fordham having last served as the IT Project Manager for a large women’s apparel manufacturing company with offices in New York, Los Angeles and China.  He managed and oversaw the implementation of the organization’s entire Windows networking infrastructure and spearheaded the migration of the company’s implementation of Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange 2010 across two continents.

Teddy travelled extensively between US and China locations to manage and train IT staffers on taking over the day-to-day management duties of the company’s new technological topology.  Mr. Francois’ extensive IT work experience also includes employment tenures in the areas of network administration, user training, software development and peer-to-peer and end-user technical support.  He has worked in vast areas of business and corporate environments both large and small, including brokerage, insurance and the banking industries, as well as serving in consultancy positions for small to medium-sized businesses on a continuing basis.  Mr. Francois attended Iona College in New Rochelle, is a Microsoft Certified IT Professional, and holds certifications in VMWare technologies and Lotus Notes application development.

Mr. Francois can be found on most days in Room 106 at Dealy Hall at the Rose Hill Campus.



John Saul

We are pleased to announce the addition of Mr. John Saul to the position of Business Analyst/Technologist for the Software and Information Services group of Fordham IT, effective November 4th.  John was formerly working for Drew University as the Developer and Manager of Consulting Services, where he played an integral role in implementing Banner.

Other experience includes implementing and managing the customer service and incident management system and the design and release of the analytics and reporting structure for Drew University.  He has worked extensively with many of our applications, including Banner Workflow, Banner Finance, Human Resource, Student, Operational Data Store (ODS). 
John holds a Master’s of Science in Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University.  He will be working extensively on the implementation of the University's CRM initiative.
