Password Change
Effective Spring 2014, Fordham University is introducing a new AccessIT ID Password Expiration Policy. It requires that all users with access to university data change their AccessIT ID password every 180 days (approximately every six months).

30 days prior to the expiration of your AccessIT ID password, you will receive an email from with the subject line, "ACTION REQUIRED: Your AccessIT ID Password is expiring." The email will also indicate the expiration date of your password. You will receive additional reminder emails until you change your password, beginning 14 days before the expiration date, and then one everyday for the last seven days.

If you do not reset your password within this time, you will not be able to log on to any Fordham University resources that use your AccessIT ID.
  • To change your password, please go to the University portal at, click the link "Change Password" on the portal home page, and follow the prompts.
  • If you've forgotten your password, please go to the University portal at, click the link "Forgot Password" on the portal home page, and follow the prompts to reset your password.


Password Complexity Rules

•    Must not contain your AccessIT ID, FIDN, First Name, Last Name or Email
•    Must be between 8 and 32 characters
•    Must contain at least 1 numeric character (0-9)
•    Must contain at least 1 UPPER and 1 lower case character (A-Z and a-z)
•    Must not be the same as your last 5 passwords
•    Must not contain any of the following special characters: ~!@#$%^&*()_+=-`{}[]|\:”;<>,.?/

As a safety precaution for phishing emails and malicious links sent via email, we request that you manually enter the URL into a browser to make the changes to your account.  Please remember that Fordham IT will NEVER ask you for your username, AccessIT ID, password or any other personally identifiable information.

If you receive questionable or suspicious emails, contact IT Customer Care at (718) 817-3999 or via email to: and allow the University Information Security Office (UISO) to validate the legitimacy of these emails.

You will receive an email and/or text message confirming your password change. If you receive this email or text message but did not change your password, immediately go to the portal at to change your password and contact IT Customer Care immediately.
