The Residential Technology Consultant (RTC) is the primary source of assistance for students living in the residence halls. RTCs educate residents on all aspects of computing at Fordham University, consult with residents on computer related problems, and support in-room network connections and resident computers. Most importantly, RTCs are expected to be available to residents. RTCs work primarily with the students, residence hall staff, student technology services and the University Help Desk to accomplish their goals. A RTC can expect to spend a greater amount of time in the support role at the beginning of each semester, especially during the first few weeks of school, and again near the end of the semester as final exams approach. BACK 2 SCHOOL - Student IT Support (Tiger Team) *

Our B2S IT Support at Fordham University, known as Tiger Team, assists new and returning students to connect to the University network. This is done by installing/updating virus software, updating operating systems, installing Cisco Clean Access and configuring Windows, firewall and IP settings. These tasks will be performed during freshmen move-in weekend and throughout the first few weeks of school as needed. Training will be provided for everyone that is offered a position.

Student IT Consultants work in the Help Desk or Student Technology Centers at either Rose Hill or Lincoln Center to answer questions and resolve issues relating to software, hardware, and computer peripheral equipment. They are expected to provide a high level of customer service, demonstrate technical skill, exemplary interpersonal skills and maintain a professional attitude at all times.

STUDENT WEB AUTHORING/TRAINING STAFF (SWAT Team)

Fordham IT is assembling a SWAT team to assist with web development. Members of this group will be exposed to a mix of web authoring technologies and learn how to operate in an enterprise-class Web development environment. They are expected to provide a high level of customer service, demonstrate technical skill, exemplary interpersonal skills and maintain a professional attitude at all times. Some technical training may be provided to anyone that is offered a position.

INFORMATION SECURITY CONSULTANT

The Information Security Group, InfoSec, at Fordham University is charged with designing and implementing IT security through policies procedures, standards and guidelines. They are responsible for providing forensic analysis of security events, directing the design and implementation of solutions for user security awareness, security implementations, access control and compliance monitoring. The Information Security Consultant, ISC, will be a resource to the InfoSec Group providing assistance in meeting their goals and priorities. The ISC will work closely with the Director of IT Security and Director of Risk and Integrity.

MAC COMPUTER LAB ASSISTANT

The Visual Arts department has a Macintosh based graphics arts computer classroom and lab in the basement of Keating Hall. This classroom and the faculty and students who use it, are supported by the Instructional Technology Department in a 65 hour a week operation. The room consists of 14 iMAC’s, multiple printers and scanners.
