Empowerment
Empower and challenge our students to grow both personally and professionally by providing education related to career strategies and broad based life-planning skills. Through involvement in internships, placement and service learning experiences unique to Fordham, the Career Planning and Placement Staff works to care for and develop the individual talents, skills and values of our students.
Leadership
Leadership nurtured through cura personalis (care of the person), one of the five tenets of Jesuit Education, is reflected in our programs and services. Students explore their interests, skills, needs and values through personalized assessments, guided programs, technology, mentoring and internships. As students gain experience in various work settings and develop practical skills, they become leaders and contributors to organizations and society.
Occupational Wellness
Occupational wellness is introduced through participation in our comprehensive services. In keeping with the Jesuit tradition, we provide programs, counseling and technology to foster competence, values and personal development. In our effort to guide students in determining their professional path, we seek to encourage their understanding of the need to balance their career with spiritual, mental and physical well being. Our students will be empowered by their occupational wellness and ultimately practice wellness in all of their personal and professional endeavors.
Commitment to Excellence and Work Ethic
Commitment to career excellence and professional work ethic is our underlying theme throughout all of our programs and services. Students are continually challenged to make genuine and ethical career decisions, which are supported, by our counselors and staff. This important component of our mission will enable students to make positive contributions to a diverse and ever changing society motivating them to pursue a successful career path.
