For Career Development functions s/he is involved in: counseling students, facilitating large and small group workshops and conducting career education programming. A customer-service orientation is vital as recruiter and student interaction is an integral component of this position, and strong presentation and written communication skills are essential. Participation at some evening and weekend events and local travel may be required.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains relationships with current and potential employers by partnering with alumni, discussing recruiting strategy and collecting data to assist current recruiting companies in measuring their effectiveness.
- Plans and executes on and off-campus recruiting events, including career fairs and other recruiting-related programs promoting Fordham MBA/MS students to recruiters and tracking placement results.
- Develops and delivers relevant, educational workshops, presentations and course materials related to the MBA job search, including but not limited to: resume and interview skills workshops, networking training sessions, panels using student, alumni, and industry speakers, and industry-specific educational programs. Helps to select, train, and manage student leaders, alumni and/or outside consultants for the delivery of these programs when necessary.
- Helps design and develop overall career-education program by assessing career education needs of MBA student population through feedback from recruiters and placement results.
- Advises and educates students on on-campus recruiting and off-campus recruiting opportunities and procedures to maintain a clear understanding of the logistics, policies, and trends related to the on-campus recruiting process.
- Assists with delivery of student programming including new student orientation, on-campus recruiting, and other recruiter and student-centered programs.
- Insures that students are well informed of all programming. Works with Recruiting Coordinator to oversee the advertising, publicity, promotion and coordination of student registration and attendance.
- Provides exemplary customer service to and works closely with the office’s key constituents, including recruiters, alumni, students, and other external and internal audiences.
- Performs other duties as directed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree Required; Masters Degree Preferred.
- 3 years related experience in either a corporate or academic advisement setting.
- Experience in marketing, program management or events management desired.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
- Superior presentation skills.
- Knowledge of office productivity software – including but not limited to PowerPoint, excel, word.
- Proven ability to work well under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
- Flexibility and an ability to work in an environment of flux and constant change.
- Customer service orientation, proven ability to excel in a high-volume environment and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to balance independent delivery of work with strong team work/collaborative orientation.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
- Understanding of MBA job market and at least one MBA target industry.
- Knowledge of the business and academic environments, and how the two interrelate.
