Often, faculty and staff are asked by students to provide letters of reference for either employment, or in support of admission to graduate school. While it is often a time-consuming task, it is an opportunity for you to play a vital role in aiding a student’s future career development. The information listed below is intended to help make this all-important task more manageable for you.

 

Tips for Writing Reference Letters – This section offers practical tips for both the novice and veteran reference letter writer, and provides an overview of some legal and ethical considerations as well.

 

Interfolio.com  – As of June 2003, Career Services no longer maintains credential files. Because it is an easier and more efficient system, we are instead recommending students and faculty use Interfolio.com to maintain their reference letters.
