Ram Van Q & A
Who can ride the vans?
Any member of the Fordham community with a valid Fordham ID. Guests are also allowed to ride the van when accompianed by a Fordham community member with a valid ID. Top of Page.
What does it cost to ride the van?
An one-way fare costs $3.00. Exact change is required if paying on the van as drivers do not carry change. We strongly encourage you to purchase a ticket before you board the van. Tickets are available from the Ram Van office in the McGinley Center, Room 241.Top of Page.
Do you offer any discounts?
Discount books are available for purchase. One book costs $30 for twelve one-way trips. That's a savings of $6! Discount books are available in the Ram Van office in the McGinley Center, Room 241. If you're a department within the University, you can download and print a requisition form here. You can then fax the form to (718)817-3388 or send it via intercampus mail. Can I sign up for the van?
Yes. Passengers wishing to reserve a spot on the van may sign up on the day of their trip only on the campus they are wishing to depart. Sign ups occur at Rose Hill in the Ram Van office in the McGinley Center, Room 241, at Lincoln Center at the Security Desk in the Lowenstein building, or at Marymount at the Security Booth.

What if there is traffic?
Traffic in New York City is a given. Each driver knows numerous routes between each campus in order to avoid traffic and keep travel time to a minimum.

Where are the designated stops?
The Ram Van loads passengers in front of the McGinley Center at Rose Hill and on the corner of 60th and Columbus at Lincoln Center.

What are the operating hours?
Durning the academic semesters, service generally runs from 6:30 AM until Midnight. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, service runs until 4 AM.

Will there be transporation nights and weekends?
Yes. We run on the weekends and provide nightly service. Please click here for more information about schedules. Additionally, the Office of Security & Safety utilizes Ram Vans in running a shuttle throughout the Belmont community. For more details, please

Are the vans on a time schedule?
Yes. Vans traveling between Rose Hill and Lincoln Center leave every half an hour on the half hour starting at 6:30 or 7 AM, depending on the day, and run through midnight or 4 AM, depending on the day. Vans traveling between Rose Hill and Marymount do not run as frequently.

What is the reliability of the van schedule?
Our vans depart on time 98.4% of the time.

Does the Ram Van ever cancel service?
The Ram Van makes every effort to stay open. We unfortunately are forcedto close from time to time due to incliment weather. However, even major disasters will not stop the Ram Van. We pride ourselves on the reliability of service we have to offer. We ran on 9/11, the blackout in August 2003, the wall collapse on the West Side Highway in Spring of 2005, and the Transit Strike in December of 2005. We are here to transport you!

What will people do that are carrying heavy/large loads?
Unfortunately, the Ram Van cannot accomodate every unique situation. While we will do our best to help you, we cannot guarantee transport of your heavy/large loads.

Will the van run during University holidays?
Depending on the holiday, the Ram Van will be open. Please check our

Will the vans run in severe weather?
While we make every effort to ensure our vans run in any weather, the Ram Van might have to cancel service from time to time. We will post any weather related cancelations and closing on our website.

Are the vans sanitary?
The vans are cleaned once a day during the weekdays and twice on weekends.

Are the vans air conditioned and heated?
All vans come equipped with AC and heaters.

How safe are the drivers?
Our drivers go through a rigorous training course which emphasizes safe, reliable driving. We have one accident for every 1000 miles driven.

What kind of vans will be used for transporation?
We operate Cheverolet Express vans. We take every precaution in ensuring our vans are safe and properly maintained.

Will the vans run for events on campus (plays, dances, etc.)?
Yes. If you have a big event scheduled that you believe will overwhelm our regular service, please notify us at
ramvan@fordham.edu. We will make every effort to accomodate your needs.
