Curriculum

The College of Business Administration’s curriculum is made up of four primary components:

  1. Common Arts and Sciences Core (for undergraduate business)
  2. Business Core
  3. Major/Concentration
  4. Electives

These four components of the program are listed below in a more detailed manner:

The Common Core Curriculum (16 courses)

Literature: Second level literature

*Philosophy (Two required courses)

Philosophy: Philosophy of Human Nature

Philosophy: Philosophical Ethics

*Theology (Two required courses)

Theology: Faith and Critical Reasoning

Theology: A course on religious texts

*History (Two required courses)

History: The West from the Enlightenment to the Present

History: Second History course

*Mathematical Reasoning (Three required course)

Mathematics: Math Methods in Business 1

Mathematics: Math Methods in Business 2

Statistics: Statistics 1

*Natural Science (One required course)

Natural Science: undergraduate business students may choose one from a list of natural science courses.

*Social Sciences (Two required courses)

Social Science: Basic Macroeconomics

Social Science: Basic Microeconomics

*Fine Arts Elective (One required course)

Fine Arts course

Distributive Requirements (part of the common core requirements )

*American Pluralism

American Pluralism in business is fulfilled by two required business core courses (Marketing Principles and Principles of Management)

*Global Studies

Global Studies course (may be completed in the students major, concentration or electives)

*Senior Values

Senior values course: Ethics in Business (taken in either the junior or senior year)

*Typical major in business (9 – 10 courses)

*Typical electives for majors in business (2-3 courses)

*Typical concentration in business (4-5 courses)

*Typical electives for students concentrating in a business area (7-8 courses) Electives must come from both arts and sciences and business. See CBA’s Curriculum Analysis form for specific majors/concentrations for required number of electives.

All students are required to complete a minimum of 40 courses and 120 credits in order to graduate from the College of Business Administration. Each course must have at minimum a rating of 3 credits or higher.
