Portal Project Updates
05/08 Portal Task Force: First Meeting for Student Launch. PDF Summary
03/07 The Office of Development, Alumni and University Relations has signed a contract with Affinity Circles to use the inCircle product to handle their online Social Network.

We still have many issues of data reconciliation and synchronization to resolve but we now have forward momentum. More on this as it develops.
02/07 We have begun working with SSIA to run scripts that will import all Portal user accounts into the Portal's directory.

In the long term, the strategy is to have these accounts provisioned and managed by our ID management solution. However, until this is in place, we will be ready for all visitors.
01/07 To guarantee access and redundancy in the event of a server or network failure, we made the decision to split our two web tier servers. One will be at Rose Hill and the other at Lincoln Center.
There will also be a failover resource tier so that any downtime disruption, outside of any scheduled maintenance, will be minimally disruptive.
12/06 Proceeding along on our projected path, we put in place a Generic Connector Framework, this will allow us to establish Single Sign-On with other applications.

We have established Proof-of-Concept connections to Lotus Notes email and students' Mirapoint servers.
11/06 The Portal production servers were installed. In order to support the concurrent number of users we anticipate, especially when students register for classes via the Portal, we have initially deployed two load-balanced front end servers and one resource tier.
10/24/06Another outcome of the Focus Groups were requests for more updates on the progress of the project. These will be posted here more frequently.

Some of the other requests were for presentations to help communicate information about the Portal. I am posting a Documentation section that will have a general Portal Overview (PowerPoint) and a detailed presentation on Banner Channels for the Portal.
10/15/06As a result of the Focus Group feedback, we have posted the proposed content matrix for several roles along with a feedback form. Please tell us what you think!
10/02, 03, 04/06We held numerous Focus Groups for Staff, Faculty and Students on each campus. The outcome was encouraging.

We are working on an online interactive version to collect more potential user input.
09/29/06The Portal Test Server has been successfully installed! We are now beginning the "Fordhamization" of the portal's appearance.
08/22/06Satellite Group Meetings continue. A simplified default layout was sent for further input and review. Deadline for additional contributions is Sept. 15th.
07/26/06 The preliminary content organization matrix was disseminated to all task force members.
