Fordham University ID Card General Information

The Fordham Duplicating Center/ID Card Centers located at the Rose Hill & Lincoln center campuses issue, validate, and replace Fordham University Identification cards throughout the year. During registration periods, the Center is open for extended hours.

Issuance of the new Fordham University ID cards goes into effect for all new and returning Students for every Fall semester.

Important functions of your ID card include:

New Student Information

All new students to Fordham University receive their official University ID card as soon as they have arrived on campus. This magnetically encoded photo ID card will be your official University ID for the length of the academic year at Fordham. Every Fall semester a new one is issued to you. If you change schools during this time, bring your original ID card to the ID Center and we will replace it free of charge. Students must have registered for their courses in order to receive their ID. Partial registration is acceptable.

Lost or Stolen ID Cards

Your New ID card is more than just an identification card, it’s an essential part of campus life at Fordham University. You will want to keep it with you at all times. Please guard your card as you would any important document. Do not lend your card to anyone for any reason. Should it be lost or stolen, please report it immediately to Fordham University Security immediately at (718) 817-2222. To attain a replacement you may come by during regular business hours to an ID Card Service Center located at either the Rose Hill or Lincoln Center campuses. There is a *$25.00 charge for replacing a lost or stolen ID Card. The fee is waived if you present the proper documentation from the Security Office or the Police Department indicating theft of your ID Card. Provided you can present the pieces to FDC ID staff, the fee is also waived for broken cards that you wish to replace.

*The Fordham Duplicating Center/ID Card Centers do not accept payment directly, you simply fill out a form and you will be billed later.

Fordham University ID Card Features

  • Identification - With your picture on the front and your account information magnetically encoded on the back, the Fordham University ID card functions as your official University identification card-instantly identifying you as a fully privileged member of University community and should be carried with you at all times.
  • Library Privileges - Using the University libraries is a big part of your life as a Fordham University student. With your ID card you can access Walsh Library as well as the Quinn and Law Libraries located at the Lincoln Center campus.
  • Building Access - Your Fordham University ID card allows you to access many residence halls, specified computer laboratories, and other areas on campus.
  • Lombardi Memorial Center Privileges - You can use your Fordham University ID card to gain access to Lombardi Memorial Center. For additional privileges inquire in the director’s office or call (718) 817-4260.
  • Special Discounts - Your Fordham University ID card also makes you eligible for student discounts at various museums, movie theatres, on-and-off Broadway theatres, and other cultural attractions in New York City. Some neighborhood businesses offer discounts if you show your Fordham University ID Card when making a purchase.

* Your ID card can be encoded with money and can be used for:

  • Laser Printing Privileges - Use your Fordham University ID card to do laser printing in the computer laboratories located in various areas of the University.
  • Photocopying Privileges - Use your ID card to do copying at any of the coin operated photocopier machines located in the University Libraries.
  • Cash to Card Capability - The Cash to Card units allow users to pre-pay for copies and can also be used in vending machines. If you wish to add more money to your ID card you can do so at any Cash-to-Card terminal on the Rose Hill, Marymount, & Lincoln Center Campuses. Instructions for their use are printed on the face of the machines.
  • Vending Machine Purchases - Use your ID card for purchasing a variety of snacks & beverages at various locations throughout the Rose Hill & Lincoln Center campuses.

How Does the Card Work?

1) This Barcode is used for library privileges.

2) This Magnetic stripe is used to access your meal plan account and for building access. If the card is lost, stolen or damaged this information is retrievable.

3) *This Magnetic stripe is used for laser printing, photocopying and vending machine purchases. If the card is lost, stolen or damaged this information is not retrievable.

*Please note: It is very important that you DO NOT lose or damage your ID card. If your ID card is lost, stolen or damaged the money on Magnetic Stripe 2 cannot be replaced.

 

General ID Card Info


The ID Card color scheme is established by the Duplicating & ID Manager and changes each fiscal year.

The student cards are printed and issued annually, based on the Enrollment Services List. The Office of Enrollment Services is contacted for a current student listing (undergraduate and graduate students) in May of each academic year after commencement.
Undergraduate IDs are pre-printed and await distribution in August, just prior to semester.
IDs are hand delivered to Residential Life for distribution to Resident Students.
Commuter Student ID’s are distributed with the assistance of the Student Activities’ Office, for distribution in the beginning of September.
Faculty, Administrative and other non-student IDs are pre-printed in July & August for distribution and are based on current Personnel Rosters.
Walk-up traffic is accommodated daily or on an as needed basis at both Lincoln Center and Rose Hill ID Stations.

Copy Cards

The Duplicating & ID Manager administrates the replacement and replenishment of copy cards as needed from both the Rose Hill and Lincoln Center ID Stations.
The Duplicating & ID Manager takes monthly readings of all copiers which are part of the Office of Procurement Copier program and prepares monthly IX Reports for Controller’s Office for billing.
