ANYTIME, ANYWHERE LEARNING PROFESSIONAL

DEVELOPMENT SCHOOL (AALPDS)

CEUs:

What are they and how can you earn them?

What are CEUs?

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are offered by participating colleges and universities upon completion of specific courses and payment of fees. For a limited time, qualified students who enroll in the AALPDS program, will receive up to six free CEUs for AALPDS courses provided they complete the courses they have signed up for within a 12-month period. Please note that at the time of signing up for each course, the enrollee must sign up as a CEU/Graduate Credit learner at Connected University.

Non-AALPDS Special Enrollment Period

Usually under the AALPDS program, Fordham University will offer these units at a cost of $50 per unit, with payment made in advance of the completion of the course, and at the time of registration for the online course under this program. Please note that at the time of signing up for each course, the enrollee must register as a CEU learner and pay for the CEUs at that time.

Can CEUs be used for salary differentials or required professional development?

Many cities and states will accept CEUs for both salary differentials and required teacher training and continuing professional development.

However, the responsibility of confirming this according to the requirements of his or her  own city or state rests with each enrollee and cannot be assumed by AALPDS. For example, at this time NYC will NOT accept CEUs for proof of teacher training or for salary differentials; however, they may qualify for NYC new teacher professional development. (The new teacher qualification is still being determined.)

This project is funded in part by a FIPSE/LAAP grant.
