| The National Council for
Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the United States Department of
Education, international educational conferences, administrators, parents
and business and community interest groups call for the integration of
technology into education. Financial resources, after being
allocated almost solely for technology acquisition for many years, are
finally being designated for professional development in educational
technology. In the midst of these forces, administrators, faculty
developers and educators are nonetheless left wondering how to teach and
learn educational technology in such a way that it will be capable of
bringing about valuable change and renewal in the lives and work of
educators. It is evident that a new perspective of this pressing
problem can offer some solutions.
This two-volume set of books presents and operationalizes a new perspective of educators as adult learners and educational technology professional development as a transformational learning experience, a "journey of transformation." The "journey of transformation" presents a unified perspective for professional development in educational technology. These volumes explains this perspective's relevance, power and promise for educators. They assist classroom educators, administrators, and those responsible for professional development in exploring what they can expect from professional development that is transforming and empowering, and how to pursue developing and offering such programs. |
