Counseling and Psychological Services
Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) joins the rest of the Fordham community in expressing our grief, sorrow and compassion to all those who have been affected by the tragic violence in Orlando this past weekend. In the aftermath of a tragedy, it's normal to experience a range of feelings, such as sadness, fear, anger, helplessness or guilt. Due to the circumstances of this tragedy, CPS recognizes that our LGBTQ and Latino students, faculty, staff, administrators and alumni may be feeling especially vulnerable. Furthermore, we recognize that members of our community with perceived racial, ethnic and/or religious similarities to the identified perpetrator may also be particularly affected. As a mental health service, CPS is committed to affirming and supporting individuals of all sexual orientations, gender identities/expressions, and religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds. We encourage you to contact our office if you (or someone you know) would like support with coping and healing from this incomprehensible tragedy. We're all in this together.
With love and solidarity,
The Staff at CPS
Fordham’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) is a comprehensive mental health center that is dedicated to promoting the emotional and psychological health and wellness of our students. At CPS, we recognize that University life can be stressful due to academic, financial, family, and social pressures. These stressors can sometimes contribute to or exacerbate more significant psychological problems, such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, trauma, or difficulties with sleeping, eating, or attention.
CPS provides a range of services to help students address and cope more effectively with their stress and psychological concerns. No matter what challenges you are experiencing, our free and confidential services can help you better understand your difficulties, develop more self-awareness, and enhance your coping skills, academic performance, self-esteem, relationships, and overall well-being.
