POSITION: Ed Tech Assistant

SUMMARY

We are looking for a part-time student worker to help support educational technology at the university in a hybrid work environment. The main responsibilities are: assisting faculty members with their Blackboard courses, troubleshooting software issues, and maintaining the physical EdTech environment on campus (i.e., staffing the Faculty Technology Centers). The Educational Technologies Assistant will also perform other duties and projects as assigned. Examples of past assignments include: creating/editing videos and flyers, helping facilitate Faculty Technology Day (our annual conference), creating/formatting PowerPoint presentations with visuals/animations from outlines and transcripts, and more. Student projects are assigned based on need, although the Assistant’s special interests are considered whenever possible.

The successful candidate needs a genuine interest in learning and technology, excellent written and oral communication skills, and ideally some experience with a technology topic, such as media creation, digital humanities, app development, or others. Training will be provided as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a registered Fordham University student in good standing
  • Required to use Fordham University’s email system for all work-related communications
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Strong presentation and training skills
  • Genuine interest in technology; stays informed of the latest tech advances

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily checks to ensure that all computing equipment is fully operational at all times when on campus.
  • Assist visitors who request help in using either hardware or software installed in the lab's computers.
  • Monitor the Educational Technologies email inbox and tickets and respond to faculty requests in a timely manner.
  • Provide informational assistance to queries about other services of IT in general and Educational Technologies specifically.
  • Assist with managing faculty workshops and events upon request.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE (Training Provided)

  • Technology troubleshooting

  • Proficient skills with tools such as Microsoft Office and G Suite
  • Proficiency in technical documentation

COMPENSATION: $16.00 per hour
