Both facilities provide materials for practice in Arabic, French, German, Italian, Mandarin, Russian, and Spanish, the most up-to-date equipment and the very latest in computer-assisted language learning technology in an inviting and user-friendly environment.
The Language Learning Center at Rose Hill is a state-of-the-art multi-use, interactive digital facility consisting of 54 self-contained computer stations, all equipped with the most up-to-date audio, recording, and film-viewing technology. Through the use of powerful software that creates a virtual language laboratory, Rose Hill Language Learning Center is designed to accommodate users individually or in groups in an independent and/or monitored environment. The facility also features satellite television programming in Arabic, French, German, Italian, and Spanish available at each computer station, as well as a high-level projection system for group viewings of multimedia presentations.
The Olga M. Ficarra / Francis J. Morison Language Laboratory at Lincoln Center is a multi-use, interactive, computer-based facility with CD-ROM, audio, video, and DVD capabilities all interfaced to 25 student work stations and connected to a master control console. The lab is designed to accommodate users individually or in groups in an independent and/or monitored atmosphere. Computers offer zip drives, CD-ROM/DVD drives, internet access, voice recognition software, and video-viewing options in various formats. The audio/recording assembly allows for traditional listening and dubbing, as well as selected repetition through internal memory and search modes. The master control console houses several high-tech, computerized devices that enable instructors to interact with students on an individual and/or group basis. This control unit is electronically designed for the simultaneous transmission of CD-ROMs, DVDs, computer software, audio programs, and video programs, thus making a variety of language oriented activities available at any given time. The facility also features a sophisticated projection system that may accommodate groups of up to 25 students for the viewing of multimedia presentations in various formats.
