Experience

Adjunct Professor Erik Bierbauer is a Litigation Counsel at NBC Universal, where he handles a variety of litigation matters involving broadcast, cable and Internet media properties. Previously, Mr. Bierbauer was a Counsel at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP. He began teaching the course "Old Media, New Media, the Internet and the First Amendment" at Fordham Law in spring 2011. In fall 2011, he taught a law and ethics course as an adjunct professor at the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism. Mr. Bierbauer has written or co-authored articles and treatises on media law matters and was a member of the Media and Communications Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association from 2005 to 2008.

From 1999 to 2000, Mr. Bierbauer clerked for the Hon. George H. King in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Mr. Bierbauer received a JD magna cum laude from New York University in 1999. He was a member of Order of the Coif and an Articles Editor on the New York University Law Review. Mr. Bierbauer received an MS from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in 1995, and a BA cum laude from Cornell University in 1994.

Mr. Bierbauer is a member of the Bar of the State of New York and is admitted to practice in the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
