Stephen Poellot is the legal director and a co-founder of the Iraqi Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP), where he organizes lawyers and law students in the United States and Canada to provide legal assistance to vulnerable refugees in the Middle East. Prior to becoming IRAP’s legal director, he was a Robert L. Bernstein International Human Rights Fellow, working at IRAP and at the Resettlement Legal Aid Project of Saint Andrew’s Refugee Services in Cairo, Egypt.

He was also a Kirby Simon Summer Fellow at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Geneva, Switzerland. Mr. Poellot earned his undergraduate degree from Columbia College and his JD from Yale Law School.
