After Submission of the Application

  • Once an application is submitted, an email is sent to the applicant instructing her to log in and establish her applicant portal. The portal allows the applicant to check the status of her application and to see what documents have been received. The portal also provides helpful information concerning the enrollment process and ways to connect with and explore the Fordham community. Applicants who have trouble accessing the portal or who have forgotten their access username/password should contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission at 718-817-4000. Please note that the Applicant Portal is different than my.fordham.edu.

  • Offers of admission will be made on a rolling basis once the application review process begins. Applicants will be notified via email that an update is available on their portal, at which point they should log in to view the decision letter. No decision letter will be mailed so the portal is the only way to review a decision. The review process dates for the fall and spring are below.

    • Fall Admission: March 1 - June 15
    • Spring Admission: Oct 24 - Dec 15

    Types of Applicant Notification
    The following list explains the type and nature of communication an applicant can expect from Fordham upon applying.

    • Application Received: This is the first email an applicant will receive upon submitting an application. It will instruct the applicant on establishing and accessing their applicant portal.
    • Visit Information: Students may receive an email encouraging them to visit Fordham that will have details with specific visit options.
    • Incomplete: If an application is incomplete for a period of time, the applicant will receive a notice indicating such and will be directed to her applicant portal to view the missing documents.
    • Further Information Request: On occasion, an application will be complete, but the Admission Committee wishes to see additional information such as mid-semester grades or final grades from the applicant’s current coursework. This information is needed to render a final decision, and it is in the best interest of the applicant to provide it when possible.
    • Application Decision: When a decision has been released the applicant will receive an email indicating a status update and directing the applicant to their portal. The student will then log in to the portal and click on the update link which will display the decision letter.

  • Transfer applicants are evaluated holistically. All aspects of the applicant’s file are considered by the admission committee before rendering a decision. Competitive applicants have between 15-60 transferable credit hours with at least a 3.0 or higher.

    • Transcripts
    • Test scores (if required)
    • Consistent full-time coursework
    • Number of transferable credit hours completed
    • Type and rigor of coursework completed
    • Intellectual curiosity
    • Community involvement
    • Recommendations (if submitted)
    • Academic, behavioral and financial standing
    • Adaptability

    *Interviews: Due to our large applicant pool, we are unable to accommodate requests for personal interviews.

  • Housing is available for transfer students. The number of housing spots are limited, however. Spots are awarded to the strongest applicants in the pool on a first come (applied) first served basis. Should a student be accepted with housing then housing is guaranteed for the remainder of their undergraduate career at Fordham (provided the student does not move out of university housing).

    • For transfer students applying to the Rose Hill campus, you may be placed in various locations throughout our campus. However, most transfer students who are granted housing live in University owned, off-campus housing in our Belmont community, which is a short walk from campus.
    • For transfer students applying to the Lincoln Center campus, most students who are granted housing live in McMahon Hall. A limited number of incoming first-year transfer students may live in McKeon Hall.

  • Fordham offers limited merit scholarship opportunities for transfers. All applicants are eligible for consideration, and no additional application is required. The Office of Admission awards our largest merit scholarships to approximately 10% of the highest achieving transfer applicants.     Other financial aid opportunities may be available through the Office of Student Financial Services by completing the financial aid process. To maximize aid eligibility, students are required to submit the FAFSA and CSS Profile. A significant portion of aid that is available to transfer students is in the form of need based aid, for those students that qualify.     The National CCAA Transfer Scholarship

    The National CCAA Transfer Scholarship is offered annually to current students attending a two-year college or university who will have completed 30 or more credit hours by the end of the spring semester and will be attending one of the National CCAA member institutions as a transfer student in the fall semester. Four (4) one-time, $1,000 scholarships are awarded each year. Award recipients will be selected by random drawing.
