IPED Graduate Student Studying

While 80% of our students are full-time, it is possible for those who are interested in the program and work within the New York area to enroll part-time in the program. Frequently international organizations and financial institutions in New York area will sponsor their employees as part-time students. Part-time students can complete the program in two years, including two summers.

Recommended Course Sequence

First Year of Study
Fall Semester
The first semester of studies will provide you with a rigorous foundation at the graduate level to do economic, political, and quantitative analysis.

  1. ECON 5011 - Economic Analysis or a more advanced economics core course
  2. POSC 5500 - Comparative Political Analysis or POSC 5600 Analysis of International Politics

*Students with intermediate level courses in economics may substitute the following more advanced economics core courses:

  • ECON 5515 - International Monetary Policy, or
  • ECON 5015 - Economic Development Policy, or
  • ECON 5500 - Financial Analysis

Spring Semester
Studies global economic relations from both an economics and a political science perspective.

  1. ECON 5510 - International Economic Policy
  2. POSC 6640 - Politics of Global Economic Relations

Summer
Begin taking electives in your chosen specialization.

  1. Elective

Second Year of Study
Complete your quantitative core requirement and continue to take electives in your chosen area of specialization.
