ANDREW S. HILLMAN, 57,
A Graveside service will be held at the Mount Hope Cemetery in
Hastings-on-Hudson on Wednesday, July 16th at 1pm with a reception to
follow at the Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown.
POSTED THURSDAY, JULY 10, 2008
Earlier this morning (Thursday, July 10, 2008), the US State Department
informed me that Mr. Andrew Hillman had died. We are all shocked
and sadden by his sudden and unexpected death. For those of you
who
may not have known him, Mr. Hillman was a US Foreign Service Office
assigned
to the United States Mission to the United Nations. For many
years
now he has also been a visiting lecturer with Fordham's Graduate
Program
in International Political Economy and Development (IPED) In the
Fall he would teach a seminar on the UN and International Security and
in the Spring he would teach his Conflict Resolution Seminar. He
was currently in the process of developing a new seminar focused on
terrorism
and weapons of mass destruction. He consistently received very
high
teaching evaluations and was highly thought of by this
students.
Mr. Hillman also encouraged and guided a number of our students as they
explored State Department internships and careers. His death is a
terrible loss for our Program.
As of this time we only know that arrangements are being made
for his funeral sometime next week. We do not expect to have any
details until Monday, July 14. When we received those details I
will
post them here.
Sincerely,
Prof. Henry Schwalbenberg
