As an example of the type of housing available on the local market are
these small row houses on Bathgate Avenue. 
Apartments in these particular houses have been very popular with Fordham
Graduate students. Their interiors were renovated to cater to graduate
students. They are adjacent to the University's entrance on Bathgate Avenue
and are therefore only a few minutes walk away from class. And because
of their proximity to one of the University's main entrances, they benefit
from a 24 hour university security presence.
The University's Office of Residential Life, in addition to operating Arthur 2, also maintains a listing of private off-campus housing in the Bronx which is available at no cost to all students.
For more detailed information, including prices, about housing options available to graduate students at Arthur 2, contact the Office of Residential Life. (Housing assignments for Arthur 2 are usually made on a priority basis by the Dean's Office. Priority is given to students based on the distance they are traveling to come to Fordham and on whether or not they are on fellowship.)

The Graduate Students Association (GSA) also operates a Housing Service exclusively for graduate students seeking non-university housing alternatives. The GSA maintains a listing of available apartments in the area as well as a listing of students who are looking for room mates. Students who conduct their search for apartments before or during the first week of August are almost guaranteed to have access to the best apartments on the market. We do not recommend waiting until the third or fourth week of August to look for an apartment.
In addition to housing, the university provides a meal plan, health center, medical insurance plans and athletic facilties as well as cheap and convenient van transportation between the Rose Hill campus in the Bronx and the Lincoln Center campus in Manhattan. Our Lincoln Center campus is only walking distance from the Metroplitan Opera. Many museums, Broadway playhouses, and numerous other cultural sites are readily accessible from our Lincoln Center Campus. Our Bronx Rose Hill campus is adjacent to the New York Botanical Gardens, the world famous Bronx Zoo, as well as Belmont, the Bronx's own Little Italy known throughout the metropolitan region for its restaurants and pastry shops.
Federally required reported crime statistics, indicate that Fordham's Bronx campus is one of the safest campuses in the United States.
