Fr. Thomas J. Scirghi, S.J. has been named the new rector or religious superior of the Jesuits of Spellman Hall, effective in the Summer of 2013.

The Spellman Jesuit Community welcomed the new members of the Ciszek Hall Community for Eucharist and dinner. At the same event Frs. Burgaleta, Dowling, Lienhard, McCoog, Mossa, and Scirghi were recognized for their recent publications.

Fr. Aloysius P. Kelley, S.J. celebrated his jubilee of ordination on July 26th. The Jesuit Community will fete him and Fr. Henry Bertels, S.J. on October 1st.

Fr. Philip A. Florio, S.J. was recently called to final vows by Fr. General Adolfo Nicolás. Fr. Florio will make solemn profession at the 11am Mass at the University Church on Sunday, November 18, 2012. A celebration will follow for family and friends with the Spellman Jesuit Community.

The Community bid Godspeed to a long-time and beloved member, Fr. Nicholas D. Lombardi, S.J., who has been missioned to be pastor of the Jesuit parish at Oceanside, Long Island, St. Anthony, and superior of the Jesuits on Long Island.

The Jesuit communities at Fordham were reconfigured this month. Loyola Hall (left) ceased to be a Jesuit community and its members moved to either Murray-Weigel, Kohlmann or Spellman Halls. Meanwhile, five Prep Jesuits moved from Kohlmann Hall to Spellman Hall, which now will be home of all Jesuits ministering full-time at the University or the Prep.

Jesuits of the Maryland, New England and New York Provinces gathered at Fordham to continue a multi-year process that will culminate in the creation of a new Jesuit province on the East Coast by 2020. There was time for prayer, reflection and conversation about the fusion of the provinces, as well as the celebration of Jesuit jubilarians and the ordinations of three new Jesuit priests by His Eminence Edward Cardinal Egan.
