CARRELS Approximately 230 individual study carrels are available to all library users. The Circulation staff will assign certain carrels to students writing for law journals and to upper-class students with special long-term research needs. However, the assignment of a carrel to a particular student does not preclude use of the carrel by others in the absence of the assigned user.
A Computer Lab containing networked microcomputer workstations for law student use and a computer classroom are located on the Upper Reading Room level (6s) of the library. These facilities offer access to word processing, spreadsheets, CALI, LEXIS, WESTLAW, e-mail, the Internet, and other research tools, such as library catalogs and periodical indexes. Although located within library space, this facility is managed by the Law School Office of Information Systems and Planning. Questions about lab hours or rules and regulations should be directed to the Lab Manager. The Lab is open only to current Fordham Law students.
The row of tables in the Main Reading Room near the card catalog is allocated to members of the schools several law reviews for checking footnotes. All research by members writing their own notes for such reviews must be done in carrels. In the absence of footnoting activity, these tables may be utilized by all library users. PHOTOCOPYING The Library has seven coin-operated copy machines for self-service copying on level 3s. Copies are $.10 each. Dollar bill changers are also available. Copy cards for operating the copiers without change can be purchased with cash using dispenser machines located on level 3s. There is a $.50 deposit on each card. If the copy card machines or copiers break down and you lose money, you must apply for reimbursement at the University Copy Center (phone ext. 6048), which is responsible for the machines. Ask at the Circulation Desk for details. RESTROOMS & TELEPHONES There are restrooms on level 6s, behind the Student Computer Lab and also near the elevator. There are no restrooms on 3s, the Main Reading Room level; exit the library and use the restrooms off the Law Schools main corridor. Public telephones are located directly across from the Library entrance, and one floor below. Please do not ask to use Library phones; they are for Library business only. |
