The Mathematics Department offers three programs at the Rose Hill and Lincoln Center campuses:
Interested students are invited to contact the Mathematics Department for further details about these programs.
The full-time mathematics faculty all possess doctorates from major universities, and their interests range from algebraic geometry and topology to more applied areas such as numerical analysis and computer algebra. Several have advanced training in Computer Science.
Our students have been awarded fellowships and assistantships for graduate study in Mathematics and Computer Science and also in Philosophy and Physics. Others choose to enter business and industry directly after graduation from Fordham. Opportunities for mathematics majors have been quite good in recent years. Our graduates have been employed by such organizations as Bell Labs, IBM, AT&T, and others. Some have gone on to careers as teachers, and some as actuaries. A number of graduates have also gone on to law school. The habits of precise thinking and logical reasoning developed by mathematical training are considered very good preparation for the study of law. Many careers are open to math majors; see the careers page.
We welcome inquiries in person, by phone, by mail or by e-mail.
