Math Major and Minor Info

The mathematics curriculum is designed to expose students to a wide spectrum of ideas in modern mathematics, to train students in the art of logical reasoning and clear expression, and to provide students with an appreciation of the beauty of the subject and of its vast applicability.

There are eleven required courses for the major (B.A.). The following six courses are taken by all mathematics majors:

In addition, each student must take four more courses. Examples are:

MTLU/RU 2005, Multivariable Calculus II.

MTLU/RU 3003, Real Analysis,

MTLU/RU 3004, Complex Analysis.

MTLU/RU 3006, Probability,

MTLU/RU 3007, Statistics.

MTLU/RU 3001, Linear Algebra II,

MTLU/RU 4006, Numerical Analysis.
