Project Leader: Dylan Katz

Project Description:

The group will partner with the David Darst Center for Service and Peace, Spirituality and Education and be a part of their Urban Immersion Experience. The Urban Immersion Experience uniquely educates youth and young adults on the real life experience of the many populations experiencing or who have experienced oppression, and those forced to live on the margins of society in Chicago. While on this project, team members are challenged with specific obstacles, representing the injustices experienced each and every day by those living on the margins. By undergoing and sharing those experiences with others, participants gain a personal understanding and appreciation of conditions that others face in their daily lives. The project will cover issues such as urban poverty, racial justice and will have a focus on justice issues surrounding the LGBTQ community.
