living the legacy of st. ignatius

“Today our prime educational objective must be to form men and women for others; men and women who will live not for themselves but for God and his Christ - for the God-man who lived and died for all the world; men and women who cannot even conceive of love of God which does not include love for the least of their neighbors; men and women completely convinced that the love of God which does not issue in justice for men and women is a farce."

- Pedro Arrupe, S.J.,
Superior General (1965-1983)
   FULLFILLING OUR MISSION

Dear Friends,

You may ask what makes Fordham special? Its faculty and students? Its attention to individuals? Its international reputation and network? Its situation here in New York at the world’s crossroads? Actually, all of the above.

Fordham University has long understood its distinctive mark to be its Catholic and Jesuit identity that binds these rich resources together through Mission and Ministry; which deeply influence all that goes on both inside and outside the classroom as an all-encompassing learning experience and value-laden education.

Complementing the work of other university departments are the ministries of our three main offices: Campus Ministry, Dorothy Day Center for Service and Justice and Global Outreach. Often called “the heart and soul” of Fordham, the work of these offices is bound to touch the lives of students here at Fordham – both during their college years as well as for the rest of their lives in service as “men and women for others.”

Blessings,

Msgr. Quinn
