Abstract “Religious
Masters and Teaching Careers at the University of Paris in the Late
Middle Ages”
Thomas Sullivan, OSB
The Ordo licentiatorum of the Faculty of Theology of the University of
Paris provides the historian with the names of 458 members of the
religious orders who incepted as masters of theology between 1373 and
1500. This paper investigates the correlation between regency and length
of regency with both previous academic achievement as well as subsequent
career. Comparisons will be made between and among the religious
according to conversatio (canonical, monastic, and mendicant) and
between the various religious orders found within each conversatio.
