This intermediate-level course is recommended to all Philosophy majors as an historical foundation, and to anyone interested in classical civilization and ancient history.  The course covers topics themes in metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics in ancient Greek philosophy from the pre-Socratics through the Stoics.  In the fall of 2006, the course will focus especially on pre-Socratics such as Anaximander, Heraclitus, Parmenides, and others.
