A survey of ancient, medieval, and modern views of persons was willing, choosing beings capable of loving relations. The course is interdisciplinary in relating themes in philosophy and psychology. We will discuss texts from Plato, Aristotle, Freud, Fromm, Sartre, Ortega y Gasset, Martin Buber, C.S. Lewis, and Rollo May’s classic work, Love and Will. |
